IFPRI research is available at the “right place and at the right time”

Luz Marina Alvaré from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) made an excellent presentation about how IFPRI is introducing Web 2.0 technologies to generation X. Her presentation consisted of various examples ranging from IFPRI's page on Facebook to showing researchers how to create "collaborative bibliographies" using delicious and newsletters using blogs.

In conclusion, she gave following tips:
  • Apply innovation for access, visibility, impact
  • Create spaces according to generations
  • Guide with example
  • Be ready with data for reactions
  • Remix, provide harvestable data reduces the pressure to "everything has to be in the homepage"
  • Gives the emphasis to people
