CIARD initative launched at the IAALD-AFITA-WCCA Conference in Tokyo

The Coherence in Information for Agricultural Research for Development (CIARD) was formally launched at the IAALD-AFITA-WCCA Conference. The CIARD initiative has its roots in the various expert consultations that have been held between FAO and its partners.

The main goal of the initiative is to make agricultural research information publicly available and accessible to all. The motto of CIARD is "Thinking globally, but acting locally". It's aim is to help organizations to align their efforts to develop better connected information collections and services. It hopes that aligning local efforts in different countries in this way means that they’ll have a global impact, changing the way that knowledge changes hands and gets used worldwide. If you or your organization is interested in joining the partnership, you can contact CIARD at: information@ciard.net.

One of the first products of this initiative is AgriFeeds, which makes news and event information in the agriculture domain more available and accessible.
