Open research

I am attending the 2nd International Conference on Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR 07) where I came across Miltiadis Lytras and Miguel-Angel Sicilia who presented 'the open research society'. The idea of this initiative is to promote free access to knowledge and the results of scientific research to all people at national, European or International level.

They will produce over 50 journals titled “Open Research in X”, where X refers to research area. One idea could be to have a journal that pertains to Open Research in Agricultural Information Management.

The idea is not to ask the authors to pay but just to ask them that they follow some specific guidelines for the format and maybe provide metadata for their records. They will also be asked to provide not only the results of their experiments but to provide their data (empirical studies, software, files or ontologies). The journals will follow double-blind peer review process and using Web2.0 techniques to do collaborative review.
